Video games were initially invented way back in the 1950s but did not gain popularity until the 1970s when computers that had graphics on their screens and video game consoles were in circulation.
Arcade games, on coin-operated machines, were the first-ever version of video games and they were played in public places like malls, libraries, fairs, etc. The gaming industry has grown so immensely and these days, video games are everywhere and easily accessible. Initially, video games were invented and played for recreational purposes, but in the present day, people play games for other reasons.
Amongst others, games help people develop their problem-solving skills. Some people play games to master it to become a champion at it and some of these people get paid to play games and leave reviews on sites like ReviewsBird.com. This scheme is one of the few gaming store practices that are employed to promote games.
Why Build a Gaming PC?
For those who are gamers, an ordinary PC does not give them the kind of satisfaction they long for when playing a game, they either need more space or higher graphics or anything else, and a gaming PC is quite high priced for them to purchase. The need for higher performance and the inability to afford a gaming PC is the reason gamers choose to build their gaming PCs.
How to Build a Gaming PC
Whether you are a complete novice or a tech guru, this article will give you the step by step guide to building a gaming PC.
To begin with, here are the materials you will need to build a PC;
- Frame or Case
- Motherboard
- A Processor or Central Processing Unit (CPU)
- Fans
- Memory Stick or Random Access Memory (RAM)
- Graphics Card
- Power Supply Unit
- Operating System
Now that you have all you need, these are the steps to assemble a gaming PC
- First, you remove the motherboard from its packaging and key it into the PC case.
- Once it is keyed, you take out the processor.
- Find the processor socket on the motherboard and hold it from the sides; gently place it in the socket. (Note: The processor only fits into its socket in one direction which will be marked on the motherboard and the processor).
- Install the CPU fan on the CPU by applying a thermal paste.
- The next item to install is the memory sticks. Depending on the number of memory sticks that you have gotten, check the motherboard manual for where to install them. (Make sure they are well fitted into the RAM slots else there might be no display after the whole process).
- Take out the graphics card next. (The slot is usually at the top of the motherboard but make sure to confirm from the motherboard manual). Push down on the retention clip on the graphics card slot and slide in the graphics card till you hear a click. When you hear the click, screw the graphics card to the motherboard.
- Now, it is time to install the Power Supply Unit. Screw the Power Supply Unit to the motherboard and then begin to connect all cables to each component of the PC. (Consult the motherboard manual for the location of each cable).
- You are all set now. Cover the frame, connect other hardware (keyboard, monitor, mouse, etc) to the PC, and connect the PSU to a power source to power on the PC.
- Fire the PC and plug flash where you have your operating system to it. Once it boots, change the boot priority so it can load from the flash with the operating system on it.
- Complete the operating system installation guide.
That’s it! You have successfully built your gaming PC. You can proceed to install your games and catch all your fun.
